The Development of the Company Room (1901 – 1905)

The Batavian Society of Arts and Sciences’ collection of historic furniture was kept in the 'Historische Afdeeling' (History Section) of its museum (now the National Museum of Indonesia).

This section consisted of the Historische Zaal (History Hall), Portaal (Hallway), and De Compagnie’s Kamer (Company Room). The furniture originating from Batavia Castle was stored in the Directie-Kamer (Director's Office).
